Westsyde is located in the North of Kamloops, BC. It is not to be confused with the North shore, which combined with the South shore, is really central. Nor with Brock which is actually on the westside. It is on the West side of the North Thompson. If you reached Rayleigh your on the other side and like everyone else here you're wishing for a bridge.

The Kamloops Fire Rescue's - New Gold FireFit Team, has partnered with the Kamloops Food Bank and are presenting the Junior Firefighters Challenge.

 They will have a ‘kiddie combat course’ set up out here Saturday, Aug. 28, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Cooper's where kids will have a chance to run the obstacle course and take part in firefighting activities.

Please bring a non-perishable food item or donation for the Kamloops Food Bank.

Maybe 2014 for water meters out here. (New developments will get them sooner)

Westsyde Shopping Center

The Westsyde of Kamloops is getting a new shopping center. Woot woot!
Here's hoping some new management will be involved in future operational decisions.

So here is the latest scoop: Businesses at the current shopping center have not been told anything or offered a spot at the new location. The management firm has not responded to requests for information. Nothing will probably happen in 2010.

The new location is 3260 Westsyde Road (the big field in front of the high school.) The latest plans show the project as four buildings with above-ground parking and landscaped traffic islands:

• Supermarket (a one-story 22,830 sq.ft)
• a ??? Store (18,796 sq.ft)
• building "other-1" (11,235 sq.ft)
• building "other-2" (10,150 sq .ft.)

But, as usual with developing out here it is all on hold because of ...

Maybe if we actually speak up, demand a little, care and act a bit we might grow here too.

Google Streetview

Here is hoping that the shopping center is up before the google van comes back.
Although they shot the rest of Kamloops they (like city council) seem to have ignored Westsyde and Rayleigh. Myself, It has been well over thirty years now and I'm still upset over "the much needed bridge to Hwy 5". Not only would it help expand businesses in both of our hoods, it would totally eliminate speeding on Westsyde Rd. (okay, it would knock 'er down by 60-70% - which is good) and we might have been considered part of the city.

Anyway, clean up 'yer yards, paint the house, etcetera this spring. They will probably be back as soon as the trees have leaves. (Try finding somewhere to contact/complain/enquire them at Streetview. I couldn't find one.)
